Reactions with emojis reach Twitter direct messages

Better slowly but surely: Twitter has announced the launch of new reactions with emojis in its direct messages, a new function with which users will be able to send a quick response to any message within a private conversation thread.

This is how the new reactions with emojis work on Twitter
As Twitter explains : “ It's quick and easy to add an emoji reaction to a direct me Email Data ssage, whether it's a text message or one that includes files like videos or photos.”

To add a reaction, just hover over the message and click on the emoji reactions button (the heart next to the + icon) or if you're on the mobile version, double-tap the message, and you'll be able to Select the available emojis that the pop-up window will display. As you can see, the range of emoji reactions on Twitter is quite similar to that on Facebook, and includes laughter, surprise, sadness, love, fire, like, and dislike reactions.

But, if you have sent a reaction by mistake, don't worry, as you can undo them at any time , removing them from the message for all participants in the private conversation.

You can also click or tap a reaction to see which of the participants in the conversation have reacted to a message, plus all users in the conversation will receive a notification every time a user adds a new reaction to a message.

[Tweet “React! With the new emojis integrated into direct messages on Twitter”]

This new emoji reaction option on Twitter was first discovered by our favorite reverse engineering professional, Jane Manchung Wong in October of last year, and although the platform has since updated the available emojis, the way it works was basically the same. same.

Twitter wants to join the latest trends to promote the use of its platform
Reactions are not something even remotely innovative in social networks, since Facebook introduced them quite some time ago, both in its newsfeed and in messages through Messenger.

Facebook changes its algorithm to prioritize reactions over the number of likes

However, it makes sense for Twitter to integrate them, since it can take full advantage of any functionality that has proven effective and that promotes greater participation in the social network. In fact, Twitter has tried on other occasions to integrate reactions with emojis into its main feed, however, this function was never fully deployed , even though the use of emojis has taken off for some time on the platform.

From now on, all users can react to direct messages they receive on Twitter, however, they will only work in the new version of the application, since previous versions do not support reactions with emojis.
